Eagle-300™ Maritime Multispectral Sensor (EMMS) The monitoring of coastal areas for infiltration by illegal aliens, smugglers, or terrorists is a global problem whose solution has had mixed success in the past decade. At the heart of the problem are issues relating to the various sensor technology performance parameters when compared to the characteristics of the target(s) and the operating environment. By adapting the multispectral sensor of the Eagle-300™ to the problem of moving target detection in sea clutter, Sky Innovations has developed a method that can separate “not sea” items from normal sea signatures. This approach allows detection of targets with a small cross section. The Sky Innovations approach is totally passive, and unlike radar approaches, potential miscreants are completely unaware that they are under surveillance. No amount of speed reduction will protect them from detection since the passive Eagle Maritime Multispectral Sensor only relies on the target having a different optical signature than the sea. |
